College Counseling

The Ivy Advisor offers college counseling and road map planning for students from 6th through 12th grade. This includes planning, monitoring and managing all aspects of work in preparation for college applications.

Curriculum for Middle School Students:

  • Timeline planning and time management
  • Ivy-ready reading, writing, math, and modern language regimens
  • Rigorous reading lists: Classical Literature, Non-fiction, Contemporary Literature, etc.
  • Ivy Word Power Program: Vocabulary-building from etymology and morphology
  • Recommendations for competitive programs in writing, math, music, etc.
  • Preparation for standardized testing: SSAT, SAT, SAT II, etc.
  • Recommendations for academic and non-academic extracurricular activities
  • Tips for boosting participation and leadership in activities and student government
  • Recommendations and counseling for volunteering and community service programs
  • Development of unique extracurricular interests and hobbies
  • Recommendations and management for miscellaneous sports programs
  • Applications for CTY, EPGY, and other special academic programs
  • Recommendations and applications for selective summer programs
  • Advice for private school applications

Curriculum for High School Students:

  • Timeline planning and time management
  • Intense preparation for standardized testing: PSAT, SAT, ACT, APs, etc.
  • Well-designed class schedules and intense curricula
  • Rigorous reading lists: Classical Literature, Non-fiction, Contemporary Literature, etc.
  • Skilled writing program: literary analyses, project composition, and test-based writing
  • Recommendations for academic and non-academic extracurricular activities
  • Tips for boosting participation and leadership in activities and student government
  • Recommendations and counseling for volunteering and community service programs
  • Development of unique extracurricular interests and hobbies
  • Relationship-building with teachers and other school faculty
  • Recommendations for selective summer programs, internships, and employment
  • Guidance for crafting brag sheets or résumés
